About
the Kiwanis Club of Colebrook
The Kiwanis Club of Colebrook was organized
July 11,
1977
through
the sponsorship of the
Berlin,
NH
Kiwanis
Club. We
received our charter on
September
28, 1977
and became
incorporated on
February 6,
1978
.
We are part of Kiwanis International, an organization that is international
in scope.
As a service organization, we serve the needs of the
Club’s community and also the surrounding communities.
While we serve many needs, young children are the
club’s Number One Priority.
We have
sponsored many projects with some of them ongoing since
their inception: Children’s Christmas Party (1977),
Beaver
Brook
Falls
Park
(1978),
Lay Person of the Year (1980), Hospital Bed and Equipment
Loan Program (1980), and
Kiwanis
Park
(1983).
Some of our other projects include a Halloween Party,
Mitten Tree, Tree of Love,
Bicycle Safety Rodeo and Helmets.
Our support includes the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma
Institute, the Red Cross Blood Mobile, the Nursing Home
Christmas Party as well as scholarships. In
addition, our Annual Winter Carnival is held every February.
We have added an extremely popular event; the Peter Goudreau
Sr. Memorial snow bocce tournament.
To support these programs, we raise money through
events like plays, and the sale of raffle tickets.
We also have food booths at various local events and
publish the “Moosely
Information” Booklet.
In keeping with Young Children
Priority One, we
sponsor Key Clubs at
Colebrook
Academy
, Canaan
Memorial and
Pittsburg
High School
.
We also sponsor 3
Builders Clubs; one in Errol NH, one in Canaan, VT and
another in Stewartstown, NH.
In addition, we sponsor a K-Kids club in Canaan VT
elementary School.
These youth clubs have already provided their members
with opportunities to learn leadership skills, and the
meaning of community service.
To do all of this, it takes dedicated volunteers.
If you are interested in working together on
community service, you are invited to join us.
Come to one of our meetings held Tuesday mornings at
