What is Key Club?

Key Club is a student led service organization.  It teaches leadership through  serving others.  Here are some facts about Key Club:

Ž The Key Club motto is “Caring—Our Way of Life”

Ž The “Key” in Key Club stands for “Kiwanis Educates Youth”

Ž The first Key Club was founded in Sacramento, California in 1925

Throughout the year we do projects that help our community in some way.  This year will be no different we have several different ideas for different projects we can do this year.  Also throughout the year we do various fundraisers.  We must do fundraisers so that we can have money in order to do the service projects we would like to do.  Key Club is not as boring as I make it sound.  In doing all our projects and fundraisers we have a lot of fun.  There are many reasons to join Key Club.  These include:

Ž It gives you a chance to give back to your community.

Ž It looks good on your college applications.

Ž It is really fun.

Ž District Convention in April is a chance to have a lot of fun and meet a lot of other Key Clubbers

Key Club Pledge

I pledge, on my honor,

to uphold the objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school, and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

Summer News

Over the summer our club didn’t stop everything we were doing just because we weren’t in school.  Even though we only had one summer meeting, our club continued to work on several different projects.  Early in the summer, on June 24th we held a Spaghetti dinner for the bicyclists who were going through Colebrook.  Also the next morning, on June 25th we held a pancake breakfast for the same group of bicyclists.  We have been putting these two events on for the last couple of years and this year was a huge success.  The bicyclists enjoyed the food and we made quite a bit of money.

Also during the summer we worked on the Moose Festival by helping to run the dunking booth.  The kids really enjoyed dunking people but there was also a line of kids who wanted to be in the dunking booth.  They found that to be even more fun than dunking people.

 Joining Information:

If you are interested in joining Key Club please come to our meetings Wednesdays at 7:00 in the Colebrook Academy cafeteria.  If you have any questions you can talk to any of the board members listed above.  We look forward to seeing you.

Major Emphasis Report:

Our major emphasis project this year is the Samantha Skunk project.  It is a project that promotes non-smoking.  We will go into the schools and tell kids the dangers of smoking.  Right now we are working on getting the help and things that we will need.  Soon there will be a committee meeting to start getting things ready and the events planned and in order.
